small maple ladle
small maple ladle
This oddball is erratically curved in all directions. Made from a natural ‘crook’ or bend in a maple branch, it has its ladle-like curve built into it. Its bowl will reach like a cupped hand or paw into the depths of a pot. The maple has a marbling of colors from pink to blue to brown. This spoon is knifed, except for the inside of the bowl which is sanded.

Care + Finish
All of my spoons are finished with a pure raw linseed oil (not the linseed oil found in most hardware stores which has harmful additives in it).
Wash with warm soapy water. No dishwashers.
After months of use if they look dry, re-oil using a food safe oil such as walnut oil, flax oil, or mineral oil. Just wipe on with a cloth and let it sit out in the open to dry. Any excess the next day can be wiped off. This keeps them looking good and rinsing nicely over the years.
This is a soft and sculpted eating spoon with a splash of color. It has subtly wavy grain and this layer of crimson red that makes its simple shape come to life.
